Townhall Meetings are periodically conducted by IMI in collaboration with State Chapters to facilitate student and young researchers’ discussions on climate change under ‘Meet your Legislator’ initiative on the theme of ‘Taking Climate Change awareness to the People’. This initiative aims to give young people from India’s Himalaya the opportunity to hear from their legislators, to share their own thoughts on the impact of climate change in their localities and give local suggestions on how to address some of them. All across the IHR, students and the youth are the ones spearheading the movement against climate change seeking climate justice and are emerging as the most important catalyst for change. This platform is a unique initiative in the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) which effectively acts as the bridge between the these two important stakeholders. So far, IMI has conducted townhall meetings in Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram.
